Offering Both Before and After School Care in Barrie

Open Arms Early Childhood Centre is excited to offer a before and after school care program at our facility for children who attend W.C. Little Elementary School, St. Bernadette Catholic School and St. Nicholas School. This includes children in junior and senior kindergarten and children up to 12 years of age.

Our centre provides walking transportation (via Open Arms staff members) to and from the schools listed above. We have a designated route to each school and ensure low teacher to child ratios. A healthy snack is provided in the morning and after school. When the children are in the centre, they are grouped with their classmates of the same age until departure or upon returning to Open Arms from school.

Our centre also offers a before and/or after care program for children who are bussed to Timothy Christian School, École La Source, Frère André and for children who attend the French Language Programs at Ferndale Woods and Ardagh Bluffs Elementary Schools. This includes children in junior/senior kindergarten and children up to 12 years of age.

Our staff works with the children to plan themed weeks that offer-age appropriate learning opportunities focusing on a variety of areas of development. In addition to planned activities, we also offer a variety of other activities including fine motor, large motor, creative art, cognitive, dramatic play, science, games, puzzles and a computer station. A homework area is also available for our school age children to use.

Open Arms also provides care for children on Professional Activity (PA) days, Christmas break, March break and throughout the summer. Spaces are limited and are based on availability.
